noidoi are back on track! the romanian invaders team up with their second ep on our beloved sublabel love letters from oslo. after their last ep dupa joi on oslo, which was released just a short while ago, the masters of puristic funk are back again. inainte inapoi iar starts with a randomized and funky off-beat snare drum, which morphs into a deep and massive bass break anthem. then, the simple but classy melody pads lead into a typical romanian house groover, which is distinguished by his complex drum patterns and edgy percussion. the second track peloc, made of a playful oldschool melody, reminds on the good old times back in the days. a solid tool for unique moments, which can be big, if used in the right order!

raoul records is very happy to welcome liviu groza for the fourth release of the label. after his china charm ep on cityfox just before this summer, he is back with 3 tracks that fit perfectly with the sound of the label. it certainly has something to do with house and techno, but livius personal touch is quickly modifying our expectations, for the pleasure of our ears. there is an authentic energy in livius work and the a-side track >no love< is a perfect example of that. what starts with a typical filtered techno loop is suddenly brought to another level with a huge melodic bass line and then with two chords that enlight the track with a certain melancholy. the b-side starts with another killer bass line. >the manimals< bass line is a snake that enrolls its body around every other element: a great house groove and an hypnotic piano. liviu is a snake charmer! the 3rd track >mean fine< seems to be the perfect b2 track. what sounds rather quiet and reduced when you first listen to it, turns itself into an efficient old school dj tool with such groovy hats and hypontic vocals once played on a proper sound system!

the first release on the hotly anticipated recore records, a-fair comprises of three tracks from jack barton, with a remix for the lead track from pawas, a must have name in anybodies record collection. jack barton although relatively new to production, with this his second release, he is no stranger to making waves on the dancefloor and can be regularly seen playing not only in his hometown of manchester, but also much further afield. this ep showcases his talents as a producer with a spectrum of sounds from each track.

after being wowed by christian smiths superb remix of carl craigs >at les< the legendary underworld listed it as one of their tunes of 2010 thereby planting a seed in the veteran producers mind. a mutual appreciation and the aforementioned events have resulted in smiths biggest remix yet – the reworking of underworlds seminal >dark & long<. coming in two versions, both of which have won immense support from the band themselves, the christian smith remixes of >dark & long< take the track in to new territories respectfully and skilfully. the tronic treatment mix preserves the vibe of the original perfectly while adding a condensed but slow burning feeling of tension which explodes into the epic break we all know and love. the hypnotica dub version underpins karl hydes classic vocal refrain and the rich synths of the original with an ever-changing, guttural monster of a bassline that adds a whole load of understated aggression without ever taking over the wonderful melodies.

dj diamond is 24 year old karlis griffin from the west side of chicago. he has been producing music since the age of 13 and djing since 20, heading the flight muzik clique of footwork producers.
you might recall his two tracks from our >bangs & works vol.1< footwork compilation of last year. in addition he has also released several mix cds in chicago, but this, his first international album showcases his unique style of footwork music.

we are happy to announce xdb on echocord dj/producer xdb aka kosta athanassiadis has been djing since the early nineties but its in the last few years that his abilities as a producer have come to fore both through his recordings for labels such as detroits sistrum and francois ks wave music, remixes for norm talley, conforce and patrice scott to name a few, along with the releases on his own metrolux label which he founded in 2006. lately, kosta athanassiadis is garnering the overdue attention of popular writers and fellow musicians. throughout his growing popularity, xdb has kept his identity nearly silent, allowing his music to be unpolluted by preconceived notions that comes with branding ones image. less is more, he suggests, applying the advice to inspiring and established artists. in the end, it was this tactic – of letting the music speak for itself – that cultivated the respect and trust of his fans. recent 2011 releases are his bakfom ep on harbour city sorrow and now followed by the apari ep on echocord. two powerfull dubby tracks by xdb + a fantastic remix by sven weisemann

once again johannes volk, best known for his releases on axis, sistrum or his own imprint exploration, is delivering timeless pieces of electronic dance music. while the a side features a crafty, chord driven- rhythm monster, the b side contains two melancholic techno meditations, well suited for club use but also for listening pleasures on a rainy sunday afternoon.

aardvarck returns with his third full length album for eat concrete records. >anti concept< showcases a taste for deep ambient and minimalstic soundscapes, dub, detroit techno and bass heavy beats, mixed into a perfect flow. as the title suggests >anti concept< leaves aside musical genres and focuses on atmosphere rather than style. aardvarck carefully and patiently builds his own world of sound, adding layers and complexity with each track. these tracks bring mostly new material but also contain some of his earlier works on previous eat concrete and bloom releases, highlighting some personal favourites of his impressive output. enjoy!

liverpool is the second release of monkey safaris new mambo label. its a two track ep with a lot of housy monkey fun... as usual. the two tracks, liverpool and berlin are absolutely floorburner, with great, prominent vocalparts and hooklines and big techy grooves. its some kind of that stuff you like it or you hate it... but a lot of big artists love it and play it. played & loved by super flu, riva starr, round table knights, solo, zombie disco squad, rene bourgeois, sascha braemer, mihalis safras, yolanda be cool, olivers, jesse rose, malente and many more

one of the stand out moments and most in demand club tracks from the simon baker >traces< album returns in remixed form, alongside the vinyl edit of simons original. its taken us a while to get pokerflat head honcho and all round german house music legend steve bug on board for a remix, but its worth the wait as he delivers a lesson in refined, deep house music. next up burnski and robert james deliver a mammoth, hypnotic jam that twists and turns for 10 minutes and still leaves you wanting more.

some may have thought the trail was cold, but battant (chloe raunet and joel dever) have just been running as far as they can. not running away from something, just keeping on moving. from the headless wave of their first lp, towards the strange shores of their second album, as i ride with no horse that is produced by its a fine line (aka ivan smagghe & tim paris) and will be released worldwide in october 2011. first glimpse: shutter. this is one of the many places where they now stand. a dry, sparse yet catchy romp. on their own edge (between early cure and meth country if you need ready made tags), electronics still dance in the corner, reigned in by the sharp its a fine line (tim paris & ivan smagghe) production. the live take of clearcut is what it says. ghosts in the machines, spookiness never in vain, this is a real song. the idea of a cover of westbam and nenas classic old school, baby had been in the mind of the team for a while. this track is a part of our history. not an easy tackle but we like to think they have made the anthem theirs. going beyond the anecdote, here is a seriously rocking wink with early support from optimo, james holden, tiga, chloe and more.

already played by sven väth, seth troxler. joris voorn, tiefschwarz, reboot... the london resident ross evana already excelled as dj at pacha nyc, at ministry of sound london or in the we love space series in ibiza. his track >thrilla in manila< first takes its time to build up before it sets a tremendously powerful exclamation mark on the dancefloor with its tropical-hypnotic percussions. with its second track, the ninth edition of cocoons 10 inch -series leads us to the land of the midnight sun. the two stockholm-born cousins alex caytas and aleks patz have started their musical collaboration only in 2007 but can already look back on a hand full of very good produced releases for the stuttgart-based label parquet recordings and the italian label caremella, as well as on remixes for martin dawson/king roc and voltique. >blue sea< shows the duos affinity to the energetic deep house techno of the nineties: with its organ sound, blues vocals and a highly infectous bass line, this track could almost pass as a modern and uncluttered version of st. germain, being predestined for warm summer nights. this is how techno sounds in 2011.

for alec koone, the 20 year old, pennsylvania resident, who was 19 and based in new york at the time of his first release, >wander / wonder< is a coming of age album that sees him expand upon the unique sound that attracted him so much attention to begin with. in koone s own words: it s an open ended album, and i think individuals should make their own meaning of it so that it is something actually real to them. it s not classical music, but in the tradition of a classical work like a bach cello suite, i see it as more of a whole musical piece with themes/motifs/ideas reoccurring throughout, connecting the tracks together as opposed to simply being a collection of songs that sit next to each other in isolation. it s also an album that should be listened to loudly. wander / wonder is a mysterious and genuinely haunting record that seems to exist in a world all of it s own making, balanced between the ecstatic wonder referenced in the title and something altogether more indefinable and uncertain of itself, like shards of light flickering through a blanket of fog, and even though wander / wonder is undeniably an electronic album, it feels strangely organic, rooted in nature, synthetic textures and distorted voices harmonizing with an ever present oceanic shimmer. wander / wonder was written and produced by alec koone in new york and pennsylvania. mixed by alec koone and sam haar (member of blondes) in new york city.

the intermezzo ep kicks off with we are here, which could be easily described as get out part 2. a spoken word vocal over kerris trademark beats and instrumentation, musing on the subject of a busy schedule and calways available technology. so it begins again takes things down a much more tribal road, perfect for a big room, and the dc10 mix is a nod towards the direction kerri had in mind and the dancefloors he created this track for. the dark mix takes this idea even further with a more progressive feel as the track plays out. red lights explores a more live drum feel with a cut-up breakbeat playing a 4/4 rhythm, and a throbbing bassline and synth pattern. this one is a little deeper but still packs plenty of punch!

blue skies and late nights, camp fires and cheap delights and whisky drained straight from the jar. in a hammock slung below a sky of dreams and sea of stars lay a pop princess and a hip hop pioneer, arms entwined and eyes locked into each others stare they whisper sweet – nothings to each other, >you re flash< he says >take it slow< she purrs back >and dont even dont think about going down under!< a mile or two out to sea, floats what has come to be known as a mega-yacht. aboard his life like an episode of mtv cribs but with more parties and less gold-encrusted pool tables. surrounded by beauties by the bevy and sipping on gin and juice, duff scans the horizon with his telescope (solid platinum, encrusted with diamonds, built in infa red) and spies young love or a new hope. smiling to himself he thinks >they look different, younger perhaps at least changed, if not for the better but changed at least which is surely a good thing<. he turns to the girls on the boat, one hand pointing to the shore and the other raising his drink to the sky he shouts >i helped create that<.

given the challenges of todays music market, its a fairly bold statement for an indie label to come out of the box with not one, but two vinyl only releases by an artist with no profile to speak of, but here black light smoke proves worthy of the faith being placed in him. sat001 switchback/black stripe is all old school drum machines, tape-hiss, heavy footed disco kicks, acid-a-plenty and funk-to-spare, but the tracks transcend the rawness of their roots to achieve a modern, club-ready edge with retro flair.

limited coloured vinyl pressing. one of my big favourite instra tunes is vicodin (released with lets talk – a dark, foreboding dubstep classic) and it gets a makeover by skudge who are getting mentions everywhere right now. check this track, even the waveform looks f***in dark! skudge warp it into something between dubstep and house but with all the downer-rhythm that really makes this track. along with the remix theres more from boddika in grand prix. short and sweet little hypnotic bounce track with serious dancability.

systematic welcomes the polish producer duo pol_on from warsaw who are comprised of kacper bogacz and michal piotrowski. after having released several cool 12 inches on freerange, mothership and get physical the first collabo with systematic recordings was a remix they have prepared for spirit catcher. the a side track >were lost< sounds like an energetic mutation of aphex twin after having played too much with powerful house grooves and >heavy rain< on the flip side sounds like a hybrid of old imagination e-piano samples paired with deep house chords in combination with slightly delayed but ass kickin soul grooves. pretty crazy and unpredctable but hey, systematic is kind of the same, isnt it?

neurotraxx deluxe, the label run by deep house buzz name aki bergen, releases a hot new track from uk super dj filthy rich. as a talented producer/dj filthy richs innovative sound has made him undeniably one of the countrys finest djs today. a promising figure looming out from the crowd, rich is the complete package. effortlessly leaving his contemporaries behind, he leaps and bounds into a league of his own laughing to himself as he does it. this is because rich knows the secret to getting this far – is playing music that he loves, for people to dance to. this new single is more on the deeper side of electronic music but still built to do damage on the dance floor. with mixes from dzeta & basile (who have had tracks & remixes on 1trax, lower east and loco records) and paolo mojo (noir music, cr2, greatstuff, oosh) this is a seriously hard hitting package. with support coming from all the usual a-list and international djs (full list of dj support being released soon) this, as we have come to expect from neurotraxx and filthy rich alike, is going to be an essential record for many djs.

raf pisani and marco conte, aka audiomatiques, have long been involved in techno but its since they began working together as audiomatiques that everything began to click. together with roberto capuano, an artist who has already released for loose, claque musique, monique musique and suara, the duo have delivered 3 sterling tracks, which are backed by a remix from rino cerrone, for loose. cerrone takes full advantage of his position as label boss and places his remix of >so bad< in pole. its a walloping but low slung affair riddled with hypnotic rises and false drops which build incredible tension. in original form, >so bad< is a pounding affair. the focus is centred around an unholy bass heavy kick with just the minimum of percussive flourishes and vocal effects doing the rest with aplomb. >mind trip<, while equally as heavy, is fluid and slick. swinging tribal vibes and some clever effects work paired with an airtight arrangement makes for a surefire club burner. finally, the bizarre yet compelling leads of the aptly titled >crazy synth< close proceedings with a fever-dream fervour. original and memorable, this is a genuinely anthemic cut.

we meet a new project, cool, and damn techno. design concept and sounds that rather than being projected towards europe, appear to come from europe, more precisely from somewhere dark and cold in the north of the continent. but no! the minds that conceived the project are all italian and lie along a line connecting cities like palermo and naples, at least for the moment. because as you might expect from the country s brain drain ... the releases, starting with the first (which will appear in the catalog as 000), will be all vinyl.

closely related to underground resistance, scan 7 is a mysterious detroit underground collective gathering seven artists. the group is most famous for its ninja like appearances, often dressed in black with black masks and hats, the use code names to protect there true identification, they believe its not who you see, but what you hear that is the most crucial element in techno! associated with such labels as underground resistance, soma & f communications, scan 7 via their own imprint have brought together a double cd of detroit influenced techno.

after the last release for ec and paul ritchs quartz label, michel de hey and m.i.r.k.o. are back on hey! joining the forces are none less than rodriguez jr and juan sanchez. after a great summer for michel with his hey! events in clubs, beaches and festivals, it was time to deliver that vibe to the label again. with this new ep that mission is easily accomplished. the original tracks are typical for michel, tough but funky and made for the dancefloor. all tracks have proven their value at numerous nights, with >give me a light< as an anthem for (the now closed) catwalk in rotterdam, whilst the original version of >waiting and waiting< has proven to be a great closer to his festival sets.

it has been in the pipeline for a while, but its finally here. the debut release from nijmegens underground house & techno collective eshu. they have been working and shaping their sound for over a year and gained quite the following on soundcloud for their relentless output. its deep, its slow, its really dirty and its to put your finger on.
two tracks will be released on wolfskuil ltd as a taster of whats to come. >naturally divine< is 14 minute electronic monstertrip with curious offbeat rhythms and detailed & mindblowing sounddesign. it builds tension without ever releasing into climax, making time fly by and 14 minutes seem way to short. >monrovia< on the flip is a nice contrast, but again this techno groover stands out through its unique choice of sounds, synths and layers.

back for his third release on hometown label thirtyonetwenty comes captain funktastic himself, william kouam djoko! if you have see him perform you know that this guy has the funk oozing through through his veins like a predatory viper going for the kill.
>cant lose my rhythm< takes you on a jazzy dreamscape, with of course all vocals are done by william himself which has become one of his signature trademarks.
>dazzling urbanite< takes thing a bit more down tempo, a perfect track to play when the first rays of light come shining throught the windows of the panorama bar.
last but not least we included remixes of the acclaimed classic >hard loving<, this time its kabale und liebe who does the honour, a name who doesnt need any further introduction!

dikso from berlin drop another amazing ep ! after five super sound singles here is diksos very first artist ep and of course it will be daniel solars job to do the kick-off. his retrospect ep features the most zippy stuff dikso has released so far without being an ordinary house record. the percussion is minimalistically filigree, the atmosphere is fluffy and aniyas voice on >can you really know< comes direct from outer space... er... down under. dikso006 a1 - summer, sunshine, a picnic basket full of delicious food and wine and someone to share a walk in the park. sounds cheesy? yes, you are right... but remember that every park has its dark corners. dikso006 a2 - daniel teamed up with aniya ouu, the grand lady of >melbourne deepcast<, a blog from a few down under brothers and sisters in spirit. intercontinental and interblogospheric, interdisciplinary and... (fill in a word of your choice that begins with inter) dikso006 b1 - thee role model of deepslowmonudiscoeditchicagoacidwhateverhouse. after finishing two longplayers earlier this year he spent some time to refine daniels track. the original shines through but everything is a little bit deeper, darker, stronger. its still a walk in the park, but imagine the voices of owls and some undefinable dark shadows instead of wine, women & song. dikso006 b2 - we still have his brilliant ep for permanet vacation in our ears and synapses and now he is here with a stirring remix for prime times and big rooms. the boys from dikso borrowed pional, probably spains best kept secret, from john talabots hivern discs camp who delivers a real monster of a track. john, they have promised to give him back, later... someday... somehow

kowtons eps are the best possible fit for the devils workshop – they are not only deep, dark and warm, but also seductive and, at a pinch, sexy – just like the dark prince, or so i ve been told. perhaps i ve come under satans sway, but for me, both eps released so far on idle hands sound like someone whos been at it for much, much longer: this is a music knowledge which is anything but basic.

rainbow arabia have been one kompakts most endearing acts to work with us in years. the husband and wife duo danny and tiffany preston started our year out with the genre-defying full length >boys and diamonds< which went on to become one our most acclaimed releases of recent time - the los angeles times went so far as to proclaim >rainbow arabia are l.a.s new electro heroes< in a recent feature. in honor of the exhaustive touring throughout the us and europe the band continues to trail blaze, we found the need to put out another limited edition 7 inch for the fans and collectors out there. the title song >boys and diamonds< combines the sway of >80s pop< with the raw power of cumbia and ethno-dance mayhem. tiffanys vocals are hauntingly powerful and a testament to the sheer will and work this band has put in over the past year. hardmix are a favorite of the band and we here at kompakt were honored have him tackle the song. what we received is melodic techno bliss - a shapeshifting extravagance that uniquely keeps the essence of the original but with a solid bass kick to keep the dance floor well on momentum

we are proud to present eveline finks debut ep hula hoop. with hula hoop and loose powder we get to experience two perfectly arranged grooving swinging tracks. you really feel that she has injected her own personal energy and charm into these tracks, they fully deserve their place on enough!. the hula hoop remix by guido schneider maintains all the power and genius of his earlier works and delivers what we expect of him. this ep is one of a kind and a definite must for all music lovers, it is so special in fact that it may warrant its own little space in music land. but i guess you the listener will decide this.

the acronym lfo is normally used for >light fuel oil<, but what robert stolt presents with his new release is truly nutritious fuel for the dancefloor. >beyond lfo< developed a groove like chiseled, massive, overwhelming, heated up and extremely intense. a track that could easily run more and more and leaves you breathless and speechless as soon as the last bass drum is faded away. two remixes come from the feather of the well-known pig & dan guys. a steppin and ever-shifting rhythm is the foundation on which a swinging guitar melody unfolds their poignant effect and transform force into playful clarity. a suitable outdoor summer hit. in their second version, the melodic superstructure is purified rigorously, the residual remain compacted and the driving rhythmic moment dressed in a hypnotic dub garb. the clearly breaks infected track >monster< is inspired by the aesthetics of american b-movie monster movies from the 50s. varying, cinematic sound cascades and these wonderful bleeps over all have a direct path into the heads own sound cinema.

charted by ernesto ferreyra. this ep is inspired by an egg dropping contest that was held at the hotel vancouver when i was a kid. all maner of apparatus were designed to help the eggs land safely after falling the 17 floors. all failed but one. parachutes malfunctioned. ballons drifted into obstructions. wings collasped. the winner: a jar of molasses. the egg was pushed into the center of a large jar full of the thick liquid and the jar was thrown over the side. the jar broke on the street below leaving the egg safe and sticky. i was once told that all jokes come from prison. i often think of those doing time while trying to remember some play on words like - whats the difference between a pickpocket and a peeping tom?..... - though that is one of redd foxxs gems i have a new joke i have yet to use - upon exiting a bathroom, regardless of its particular plumbing, tell the owner that you think their bidet is broken

this new ep from j. phlip fits that description nicely. deep and dirty with filthy ghetto sample drops. in the 1840s a certain neighborhood in san francisco was nicknamed, the barbary coast. it was described as -the haunt of the low and the vile of every kinda dance-halls and concert-saloons, where blear-eyed men and faded women drink vile liquor, smoke offensive tobacco, engage in vulgar conduct, sing obscene songs and say and do everything to heap upon themselves more degradation, are numerous.- lots of people think they know about sf basslines but only a few actually can pull it off. jessica is one of those people. she is one of my favorite djs on earth and her new ep shows why she fits in so well with at dirtybird. big basslines, quirky ideas, and a general sense of mischief make this ep stick out from all the matchy matchy tracks out there.

at last the albion vinyl sampler sees the light of day! we have waited far too long for this hotcake, but as they say >the best things come to those who wait<. we have pressed up four crazy disco gems here on the vinyl sampler. we start with >leslie< by the nevaboston team originally released in 1978 on a rare as rocking horse shit italian 7 inch albion gives it his subtle but effective treatment blending both parts together to create a new take on this killer piece of music (wait for the horns to drop for maximum dance floor devastation). oh and i nearly forgot to mention this is exclusive to the sampler never ever released norma jordans >feel me< also gets the albion snip and this delightful tracks begins with a quite a dark intro, mutating acid & disco until normas inviting voice comes to the front and absolutely smashes any dance floor into smithereens. once again it’s limited edition with no repress so buy now or cry later.
